The Standards Resource Guides provide information about developmentally appropriate teaching practices and highlight learning experiences that support children’s development. These guides provide a framework for early care and education providers and show what these practices look like in a variety of early learning settings.

About the Standards Resource Guides

The Standards Resource Guides provide information about developmentally appropriate teaching practices and highlight areas of early learning in preschool, infant and toddler, and family childcare and mixed age groups. The guides contain useful information for early care and education providers and are organized into the following components:

  • Essential questions to encourage on-going learning and reflection.
  • Key points about standards and early learning and development.
  • Images that make learning visible.
  • Examples of integrated learning and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Booklists to encourage learning and development.
  • A variety of tools and resources.
The Preschool Resource Guides are domain-specific and contain a guide for each corresponding standard domain:

There is also an Infant and Toddler Resource Guide and a Family Child Care and Mixed Age Groups Resource Guide
