Description of Fund
Provides additional funding to districts to support the unique needs of homeless students. Activities can include tutoring, coordination of non-academic support services, school supplies, and homework assistance. Districts are expected to coordinate with other organizations such as shelters and food banks.
Who is eligible?
School districts with a minimum of 20 reported students identified as homeless under the McKinney-Vento Act.
Application Process
Eligible districts receive an allocation in the electronic system (Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan – CCIP). Districts submit their CCIP which includes a plan, budget and budget details. Once approved, the awarded districts automatically receive an initial payment. Subsequent payments are requested through the Project Cash Request system (part of the CCIP). Reporting Requirements
The Ohio Department of Education collects data from ARRA Program sub recipients on a quarterly basis and reports that data to the federal reporting web site on behalf of LEAs. The data that is collected consists of the calculated FTE and description of jobs created or retained and funded by that program, the identity of any vendor who received a single payment from a single ARRA fund in excess of $25,000.00 and the amount and description of Infrastructure expenditures for applicable programs.
