SAT and ACT Fee Waiver Eligibility

SAT and ACT scores are one factor colleges may consider when reviewing applications. Fee waivers for the tests are available for some students.

  • To request a fee waiver, students must contact their high school guidance counselor. Both testing companies require a fee waiver form from your guidance office.
  • Students who are eligible for SAT and ACT fee waivers may also be eligible for college application fee waivers. Check with each college to find out about eligibility.
  • See the links in the sections below to find out if your child is eligible for a fee waiver.

SAT
The SAT college entrance and placement exams are created by the College Board, a national nonprofit membership association. High school students take the SAT to measure their critical thinking, reasoning and writing skills and their ability to complete college-level work.

ACT
The ACT college entrance and placement exams are created by ACT, the independent, not-for-profit organization formerly known as American College Testing. High school students take the ACT to assess their general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.
