Montessori and Me Days

The purpose of this practice is to involve parents in school activities and teach them about Montessori education. We believe family involvement will increase when we provide families with opportunities to participate in activities focused on math, reading, writing and science. The program is part of a larger effort by parent leader TeSheia Thomas to increase academic achievement by improving family and community involvement at Winton Montessori.

Montessori and Me Days provide parents an opportunity to observe their children’s classrooms and ask questions about lessons being taught. The school also educates parents on the components of the Montessori triangle, as well as the importance of the teacher/administrator and parent in a child’s success. Parents also are given a copy of a book explaining the Montessori concept
